Maras Moray

This tour explores cultural and natural sites around Cusco, Peru. Starting with pickup from your hotel, we visit Chinchero for insights into Inca textile production. Then, we proceed to Maras to see over 3,000 salt wells and learn about the benefits of pink salt. Finally, we visit Moray, an Inca agricultural research center with unique circular terraces. The tour concludes back in Cusco.

  • We begin the tour with pickup from your hotel, between 8:30 to 9:00 am, we will depart to Chinchero, an ancestral town of the Incas where the production of natural dyes and Andean textiles will be explained.
  • We continue towards the old salt mine of Maras, where we will see more than 3,000 salt wells, which are worked by the residents of Maras as part of their economy. On this site our guide explains the benefits of medicinal pink salt and salt for culinary use!
  • Then we arrived at Moray, an agricultural research center of the Incas, a unique place where each ring of platforms provided different micro-climatic conditions, which allowed us to observe and improve the various crops that were produced at different altitudes.
  • We return to the city of Cusco around 2:00 pm. approx.
